Unwanted text messages can be stopped on an iPhone by following the steps discussed in this article. Third-party tools shouldn’t be used instead of the iPhone’s built-in Messages app. Every day, scammers target millions of victims using scam texts, which are easy and affordable to use. Leaked data breaches or social media scraping easily expose phone numbers to the Dark Web. A spam robotext has been received by about 85% of Americans in the last year.

Does your phone ring with spam text messages every day? It can be exhausting to receive yet another junk message on your iPhone. Messages similar to these are often the starting point of scammers targeting potential victims. Scammers have taken on the roles of marketers selling products or ordinary people trying to reach a friend by calling the wrong number.

How to Turn off Text Messaging on iPhone?

Whenever you get an unwanted text message, we have good news: it’s easy to block it on your iPhone. The built-in feature can be used in the following ways:

  • To block a sender, tap a text from them in Messages
  • The sender’s icon can be found at the top of the screen
  • Make sure you select Info
  • Block the caller by tapping it
  • Tap Block Contact in the confirmation pop-up

Block Texts from a Specific Number

A scam text received from an unknown number can be blocked easily so that you don’t receive it again. Due to scammers’ regular switch of phone numbers, this is a short-term solution.

You can reduce the amount of spam texts you receive by blocking a phone number.

Here’s how to block spam numbers on iOS:

  1. Select the phone number from the top of the text message.
  2. The Information button can be used to block this caller by clicking on the block this caller button.
  3. You can confirm blocking a contact by tapping Block Contact. A mistake can also be undone here if you make one.

Install Carrier Spam Blocker

Customers who want to block spam texts can purchase additional services from their phone carriers. You can get access to these services for free with some carriers, while you have to buy an app with others.

Reverse lookups and caller ID are often the only SMS scam prevention features that phone carriers offer.

Here are a few examples of spam solutions offered by major phone carriers:

  • With ActiveArmor, AT&T blocks spam calls and filters incoming calls. Caller ID and reverse number lookup are available in the premium version, which is free
  • Verizon offers a spam filter app with spam detection and whitelisting capabilities. Incoming calls are monitored for reactive risk and caller ID in the premium version
  • It is free for T-Mobile subscribers to download the application Scam Shield. You can use it if you are unwilling to share your phone number
  • Using Google Fi’s app, you can block calls and see who’s calling. Customers are not charged extra for these features
  • Among US Cellular’s offerings are caller ID and spam alerts for all customers. Enhanced alerts and automatic call blocking are also available as part of a premium service

How Can I Stop Spam Calls on My iPhone?

If you receive spam calls, simply block specific numbers with your phone app, add your number to the National Do Not Call Registry, or block all unknown numbers. In order to do so, follow these steps:

  • Change your iPhone settings through the Settings app
  • You can find apps by tapping on Apps
  • Please select the phone number
  • Silence unknown callers by finding and enabling Silence Unknown Callers

Make Your iPhone or iPad Spam Free

You won’t receive alerts from people you don’t know when you use iMessage.

  1. Messages can be accessed by clicking Settings and then selecting Messages.
  2. The Message Filtering option can be found under the drop-down menu.
  3. Set the Filter Unknown Senders feature to on. A different list will be created for messages from unknown numbers.

How to Stop Unwanted iPhone Political Texts?

Having your phone number is one of the toughest things you can do to prevent unwanted political texts. Because organizations share supporters’ phone numbers (or even sell them) between them. If you get removed from a group or campaign list, you can opt out of receiving these texts. If this option is selected, others who have your number will not be able to use it.

A link to stop receiving this type of message appears at the bottom of most of these messages.

Please reply to the message with the suggested option if there isn’t one already suggested. Trying Stop and unsubscribing will work best for you.
